Digital Storytelling in ELT Classrooms

 

 

 

Description

Digital storytelling is the practice of using computer tools for telling a story. These stories are rich in visual elements and mostly found to be attractive by the language learners. However, teachers usually think that creating, editing or publishing a video is a really difficult task for them; but a software called Windows Movie Maker is a very user-friendly software. The aim of this session is to show how to Windows Movie Maker software while creating and editing videos; and at the end of the session participants will have the chance to create their own videos and publish them online.

 

Objectives 

At the end of this session, participants will be able to;

  • create digital stories using pictures, audio files, text and video files;
  • edit (delete or cut) movies;
  • publish their digital stories on podomatic page.

 

Briefly, it is aimed at illustrating a tool (Windows Movie Maker) to create digital stories. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in hands-on activities and at the end of the session each participant will have a story to share with the other participants.

 

Target audience

Teachers of English as a Foreign / Second Language, instructors, educators, and researchers from all levels of English are welcome.
